Sick Again?

I don't know what the heck is going on, but I was sick for over 2 weeks in the middle of September, and now I am sick again. Head cold, sore throat and an ear infection from hell. Uh, I cannot afford this right now.

  1. Stress, lack of sleep, and inadequate nutrition make you more susceptible to illness. I imagine that your med school routine has hit all three of these hard.

Get more sleep and try to fit in 30 mins of cardio exercise daily (or at least every other day). You're probably rolling your eyes as you read this, but you will be surprised how much better you feel mentally AND physically.

Make yourself try it for a week. You will find that you actually DO have the time to make it work. Hope you feel better!

  2. It's the stress. It happened to me a lot in the more difficult periods of med school and residency.

Good news is that it will help you empathize with your patients.

    Stay strong!
