Shopping
So Rew and I are both starting out on Medicine for our first rotation. Beginning next week. And we both were hurting for business attire (as required per the clerkship guide)... so we went shopping this morning. He got hooked up. Tons of clothes. Full outfits, pants, shirts, ties, the whole shebang. Me? I bought one skirt and a pair of totally hot high heels that are totally not practical for rotations... and a jacket. Which I clearly will not need during the summer in the South. Under my white coat.
Sigh.

That's so exciting that you guys are starting rotations! I'm not sure how it works, but are you guys able to start rotations before writing Step 1? In the Caribbean it is necessary to write Step 1 before rotations.
ReplyDeleteI love shopping for "grown up" clothes! I had to do a bit of it for this coming semester for physical diagnosis and I was/am a little too excited! lol
But at least the shoes are hot. Just saying. I appreciate a woman with nice shoes. People will care less what's on under your coat when you're in Jimmy Choo's.
ReplyDeleteHere's a suggestion-white shirt with a light scarf. Get a bunch of colorful ones. You can do a lot with them (knot around neck, loose around neck/shoulders towards front, etc etc). Get one or two pants, and your set. Because everyone will be taken by your hot shoes.
And yes, I'm a guy if that makes any difference. What can I say... my sister trained me well Ella. Good luck on your rotations. =)
Lol...oops! I always have trouble finding dress slacks that fit correctly on me and still look young-ish. New York and Company has some great slacks, and some of them are a spandex-cotton blend that you can wash. I ALWAYS wear those pants on my clinic days, because they're really comfortable and I can just throw them in the wash at home and save some $ on dry cleaning.
ReplyDeleteIf you're skinny, theory makes good pants (expensive though). Just get 1 pair in black or gray and wear different tops to fool people into thinking that your outfits are different every day.
ReplyDeleteOh, yeah. I never wash my pants. Ever. They last longer that way. I have a pair from 1999 that still looks fantastic. Makes dropping $200 on them much much less of a big deal when you wear them 400 times.
ReplyDeleteHaha. I don't normally wash my pants that often either. But in the hospital? Yuck. Not to mention, fomite city. I think I'll be washing. However, I LOVE Theory. I have tons of stuff from them.
