My journey through medical school, thoughts on medicine, ethics, specialties, pre-med perils, and advice for those who want to do the same.
“"Virus" is a Latin word used by doctors to mean, "Your guess is as good as mine”
"The difference between an itch and an allergy is about one hundred bucks."
"A patient going to a doctor for his first visit was asked, ''And whom did you consult before coming to me?'' ''Only the village druggist,'' was the answer. ''And what sort of foolish advice did that numbskull give you?'' asked the doctor, his tone and manner denoting his contempt for the advice of the layman. ''Oh,'' replied his patient, with no malice aforethought, ''he told me to come and see you.''"
"He's the best physician that knows the worthlessness of the most medicines" Benjamin Franklin
A man speaks frantically into the phone, "My wife is pregnant, and her contractions are only two minutes apart!"
"Is this her first child?" the doctor queries.
"No, you idiot!" the man shouts. "This is her husband!"
They're open toe. Not allowed in the hospital. At least not in the one where I work.
ReplyDeleteFirst thing that crossed my mind too:
ReplyDeleteopen toes.
OSHA does not permit those in lab environments of which, hospitals, med schools, chemistry/biology departments are but a few.
OMG you two are so SERIOUS. I'm just joking for Christ's sake!
ReplyDeleteJust imagine how hot they'd look with disposable shoe covers.
ReplyDeleteLOL, funny joke. But I've seen one of our infamously fashionable attendings wear something similar. They were best viewed when she was running to help with a code and slipped and slid shoes-first into one of our ICU glass doors. It was quite a sight - still talked about today and that was 2 years ago. :) I wear, that's the first thing I thought about when I saw the scrub pants and the shoes! :)
ReplyDeleteHmmm if you can wear those with your scrubs then I'm sure my black strappy 4" sandals are okay as well!!!
