Q: So Ella, Why Did You Flunk Out of Med School?

A: Um, I got new cookbooks instead of textbooks, spent my financial aid money at the farmer's market, and I forgot to study medicine. Completely.

Q: Was it worth it?

A: Absolutely.

Filet with Sauteed Mushrooms and Burgundy Sauce

Brown Molasses Sugar Cookies

Home-made Guacamole

Coq Au Vin

Fresh Figs with Chevre Goat and Raw Honey

Mushroom Turkey Burger with Blue Cheese

Kidney Bean and Summer Squash Soup

Flourless Chocolate Almond Cake

Beef Bourguignon

Cold Cucumber Salad with Red Pepper and Sweet Vinaigrette

Creme Wafers

Fresh Peach Ice-Cream

Bucatini Pasta with home-made pesto, roasted eggplant and pine nuts

Farm-House Loaf

  1. I'm hoping these dishes occurred over a span of at least a few weeks. Otherwise the title of your post could have been, "Ella -- How did you manage to gain 40 lbs during a single weekend?"

    Looks delicious!

  2. Lol. Yes, these are a few dishes I've made this year. Not all at once. But honestly, I feel so much healthier eating home-made food and skipping processed food. It's great!!

  4. Yep. Everything is from raw ingredients.... and I made it all from scratch. Except the pasta. I did use packaged noodles... but making my own noodles is next on my list. But I made the pesto :)

  8. I was definitely thinking along the lines of Old MD Girl and wondering if this was all made at once! You could have fed a small nation with all that food, haha! The filet and the soup look particularly delicious, though!

  9. Holy smokes! I can barely tackle ONE of these things at once. Usually I invite somebody over to help.

  10. Beautiful food. At first I thought it was just going to be a few pictures, and then I kept scrolling, and scrolling, and scrolling.

Do you read food blogs? One of my favorites is: http://chocolateandzucchini.com Whole foods, although a lot of baked stuff, too. I know, I know, probably shouldn't be suggesting new ways to procrastinate..but it's still summer!
